"The timeframe is very short, we're talking about a few months. The goal is to have the inaugurations by the summer."
This is the timetable provided to Caivano by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, for the start of the works that will allow the transformation of the area of via Sant'Arcangelo, used for waste disposal during the emergency period in Campania, into a space dedicated to emergency activities of the civil protection and to sporting activities and events.
“We are trying to apply the same philosophy in all interventions – he highlights – in the meeting we had before, in the Municipality, we said that we promise to leave the citizens a dowry also of a restructuring of the Town Hall, through the introduction of new professional figures and also through a procedure and a method that can live a life of their own, even when there will be a normal resumption of activities”.
The redevelopment works of the area will be coordinated by the Extraordinary Government Commissioner, Fabio Ciciliano, with the support of the Army and Sport e Salute Spa. At the end of the intervention, the structure will host the civil protection operations center with a landing zone for an emergency helicopter; a soccer field with an athletics track, modular grandstand for 1.150 spectators, changing rooms and parking; an arena for tennis, other sports and events, with the grandstands coming from the Foro Italico and made available by Sport e Salute Spa.
The Extraordinary Government Commissioner, Fabio Ciciliano, also participated in the start of the works and in his speech he focused on the management of the area for the future.
“To prevent the structures we are building in Caivano from being abandoned once they are done – he explains – we are thinking, as for the former Delphinia Sports Centre, of a public-private partnership, which guarantees long-term management”.
