IMinister of Sport Andrea Abodi has offered a preview of the prospects that await Italian professional sport. Speaking on the sidelines of the conference held at the Chamber on the premiership, Abodi underlined the importance of a thoughtful and inclusive vision in shaping the future of the sector.

“I make no predictions other than to hope, I am almost certain, that in relation to tomorrow it will help to better understand the reasons that have led to imagining this new frontier and also on my part to listen to the positions. I am convinced that we will find a balance in any case. The issue is not whether to do it but how to do it, as far as I am concerned…”, said Minister Abodi, stressing the importance of in-depth reflection on the issues shaping the national sporting landscape.

At the center of the discussions, the reform of the budget controls of professional sports, a topic of great interest not only for football, but also for basketball and other disciplines. Answering journalists' questions about the possibility of going back on the steps already taken, Abodi showed openness to dialogue and reflection with the parties involved.

“Well, going back…. Apart from the fact that until we get to the Council of Ministers there is always time to go back – says the sports manager – I don't fall in love with the tools, I fall in love with the objective to be pursued, which is that of reputation, of the credibility of a system and also of third-party status, respecting autonomy: for me autonomy is a sacred factor".

Abodi then commented on the draft that was circulated, which raised debates and controversies, reiterating his propensity for discussion and consultation: “By my very nature I am not for unilateral decisions. I have always demonstrated an ability or at least a willingness to discuss and dialogue. And the proof is” that tomorrow's meeting is not there “not just because I was asked, but because I would.” Finally, on the temporal progression of the provision, Abodi clarified: “The Council of Ministers will not be held next week and therefore – the minister cuts short – Good work".
