The Birth of Turchini Records with Partenope Eterna
The debut of Turchini Records with the album “Partenope Eterna” marks the advent of a new independent label dedicated to ancient music thanks to the commitment of Pietà de' Turchini. This initiative aims to enhance the repertoires of the Neapolitan and European Schools, combining tradition and contemporary musical innovation. The inaugural concert and the presentation tour
The inaugural concert of the album “Partenope Eterna” will be held on May 17th at the Church of Santa Caterina da Siena, performing in preview the homonymous piece by Maestro Fabio Vacchi. The presentation tour will continue in Asti and Genoa in June, bringing the ancient Neapolitan musical tradition to various Italian cities. The meaning of Partenope Eterna
The album title is inspired by the legends of sirens and the story of Partenope, one of the Sirens, who, as the legend goes, was defeated and brought to the shores of Naples. Composer Fabio Vacchi associates the song of the sirens with the primordial call of nature, debunking the common idea of sirens as deceiving beings. Naples is therefore the voice of Partenope, who represents a call to the spirit and the timeless charm of the city.
The tracklist of “Partenope Eterna”
The album presents an anthology of compositions from the early eighteenth century, carefully selected by musicologist Paologiovanni Maione. The tracks include works by composers such as Alessandro Scarlatti, Francesco Paolo Supriani, Francesco Mancini, Domenico Scarlatti and Nicola Fago, up to the modern piece “Partenope eterna” by Fabio Vacchi, commissioned by the Fondazione Pietà de' Turchini on a text by Giuseppe Montesano.
