CAbout 150 workers from the Jabil plant voiced their concerns by demonstrating in the streets of the city. Their goal: to keep attention high on the dispute involving the American multinational, which last April 30 announced its intention to abandon Marcianise and Italy, putting the future of 420 employees at risk.
The procession, which was also attended by Mayor Gerardo Trombetta, crossed the city streets to reach Piazza Umberto I, the seat of the Municipality. Here, the mayor promised to organize an open city council in the coming days, right outside the gates of the Jabil factory, inviting all local political representatives, including parliamentarians.
During the demonstration, many workers urged politicians to take concrete action. “We want actions, not words”, some Jabil employees shouted, while others stressed the importance of keeping the company in Marcianise. The secretary of Fiom-Cgil Caserta, Francesco Percuoco, expressed solidarity with the workers' concerns, highlighting the constant economic decline of the area. He also suggested a possible solution: involving Invitalia as a partner in Jabil to relaunch the plant. “It’s not a given that Jabil has to go”he stressed.
