"When the shots rang out I didn't understand anything because I was scared, I remember that the gun was small and black... while I was swearing at him for what he was doing, he pointed the gun at my face from about 7-8 meters away. He shot into the crowd even though there were a lot of people and traffic, then he ran away telling someone to get the car."
This is the courageous testimony of one of the six witnesses who testified today at the trial for the killing of the young innocent pizza maker Francis Pio Maimone lon the night of March 20th in the chalet area of Mergellina.
According to the witness, it was without a shadow of a doubt that he opened fire Francesco Pio Valda, he also recognized him by pointing it out on the monitor of the prison where the young man is being held BarraThree witnesses were escorted to the courtroom by the Carabinieri because they refused to appear last week.
These are boys originally from Trajan district who clashed with Valda's group. The genesis of the fight was confirmed by one of the witnesses: a drink, spilled on Valda's very expensive shoes and then also a stomp.
All four boys were not a little reticent in answering the questions put to them and the public prosecutor was forced to raise objections several times.
With the consent of the defense lawyers and the prosecutor, the judges of the Assize Court finally acquired the statement of one of the witnesses heard in the previous hearings, who stated, among other things, that he had learned from the defendant himself, whom he had met that night when he returned to his neighborhood in Barra, that he had shot.
“We met him… he told me he had fired a 38 special revolver, first two shots in the air, because they were shouting at him that the gun was a blank, and to prove that it was real, he shot into the window of a parked 500X”.
