DAfter months of uncertainty, the future of the plant Jabil of Marcianise is finally clear. The American multinational has in fact reached an agreement with Tme, a Campania company based in Portico di Caserta, for the sale of the entire plant, which has 419 employees.
The transaction will be carried out through the establishment of a new company, Tme Assembly Engineering Srl, which will take over from Jabil all corporate assets, labor contracts and supply contracts. The sale is expected to be completed by September 2024.
The reasons for the sale
Jabil chose Tme as its buyer for two main reasons: Tme has a proven track record in the design and manufacturing of electronic boards, but lacks a large manufacturing footprint.
The union of the two entities will create a more competitive company able to offer customers a complete range of services, from design to final production.
Jabil workers who agree to move to the new company Tme Assembly Engineering Srl will be placed on redundancy for two months to facilitate the employment transition. They will then be gradually reabsorbed over the next three years, when the new company should reach full competitiveness.
For those workers who do not accept the transfer to Tme, Jabil has provided incentives to leave.
The details of the industrial plan of Tme Assembly Engineering Srl will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
Here are some key points of the agreement:
The divestment is expected to be completed by September 2024.
Jabil workers who will transfer to Tme will be placed on furlough for two months.
Tme will reabsorb all workers within the next three years.
For workers who do not accept the transfer to Tme, there are incentives to leave.
This agreement represents an important turning point for the future of the Jabil plant in Marcianise and offers a prospect of employment continuity for its 419 employees.
Some details remain to be defined, but the agreement between Jabil and Tme represents a positive step for the future of the Marcianise production site.
