Yet he knew he was a wanted fugitive: he must serve a sentence of 16 years and 8 months in prison. A conviction for international drug trafficking, still unexecuted since the man has disappeared from the radar of justice since July 1, 2023.

The blitz with 40 carabinieri started at three o'clock last night: in via De Filippo. The soldiers surround a villa in the Marano countryside.

There are the military of the investigative nucleus of Castello di Cisterna and the ROS of Naples. All eyes are on that villa, surrounded by a courtyard, with the light barely filtering through the lowered shutters. Hidden inside is Pasquale Cesaro, a 52-year-old fugitive, a drug trafficking broker and considered close to the clan “Cloud-Orlando-Polverino".

Cesaro is considered a central figure in the trafficking of cocaine from South America to the province of Naples and must serve a sentence of 16 years and 8 months in prison.

The Carabinieri, coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, never stopped looking for him, following his network of contacts and monitoring social networks.

He tried to escape through the fields but was injured

The 52-year-old is not alone. With him are a 43-year-old man and two women, sitting around a hookah. The raid begins. Cesaro tries to escape through a back door, climbs over the fence and injures his leg on a metal spike.

Despite his wound, he continues to run, but quickly realizes that he has no escape: the carabinieri have surrounded him. The handcuffs snap on and the doors of the Secondigliano prison open for him.

The 43-year-old who was with him was also arrested for facilitating his fugitive status, accused of procuring non-compliance with a sentence. The two women, however, were reported at liberty for the same crime.
