Naples. Undeclared cash, foreign manufactured tobacco, animal and plant products and counterfeit goods: this is the result of the checks carried out in this period by the Capodichino Company's Finance Police inside the airport in collaboration with the Customs Agency.
In detail, over 437.000 euros in cash were seized and fines totaling over 14.000 euros were imposed on 36 individuals.
The currency, often hidden in luggage or in false bottoms, comes from and is mainly directed to North African, Eastern European or Middle Eastern countries.
Attention to passengers in transit at the airport has allowed the seizure of over 185 kg of contraband cigarettes and, often, counterfeit, against 4 subjects of Bulgarian nationality, reported to the AG, for a total of approximately 35.000 euros of evaded taxes.
The controls were also aimed at countering the introduction into Italian territory of products of animal and plant origin, lacking the necessary indications of origin.
In particular, over 27 kg of food intended for personal use (meat, fish, fruit and vegetables) were seized from 270 people, hidden inside luggage, in conditions that did not comply with current regulations.
In the context of the fight against the marketing of counterfeit goods, over 400 items of clothing and accessories bearing altered brands and logos were seized, mainly from North Africa and the Middle East. 27 individuals were reported, of which 2 were reported to the Judicial Authority.
