UA sea of smiles, the joy of children and the pride of parents colored the final party of the Illumina Caivano Camp, an event that marked the end of a special summer and the beginning of a different future for the local community. What until recently seemed like a distant dream has become reality: over 500 people gathered to say goodbye to the summer and make an appointment for next year, celebrating the success of a project that has brought hope and vitality back to the heart of Caivano.
Adjectives like "Beautiful", "unimaginable", "miraculous" echoed among those present, expressing the gratitude and satisfaction of the parents and children who participated in the summer camps organized by Sport e Salute in collaboration with the Fiamme Oro. Among the guests of honor, the extraordinary government commissioner Fabio Ciciliano, the president of Sport e Salute Marco Mezzaroma and the CEO Diego Nepi Molineris, participated in the celebration, testifying to the success of an initiative that had a positive and tangible impact on the community.
The camps, which began on June 10 and ended on September 6, were the first major official event to take place inside the “Pino Daniele” sports center, inaugurated last May 28 after a long period of abandonment and degradation. In 12 weeks, 973 children and teenagers aged 6 to 16 participated in over 500 hours of sports activities, under the guidance of more than 90 Sport and Health operators and 20 members of the Fiamme Oro. A total of 34 sports disciplines, represented by 15 national Federations, transformed this space into a place of growth, play and community.
“Every time I come to Caivano it is an ever stronger emotion,” said Marco Mezzaroma, president of Sport and Health. “At first it seemed like an impossible mission, but today Caivano shows that change is possible. I am proud of three colors: the yellow and green of the children's shirts with the words 'Illumina' and the white of the shirts of the tutors who have done an extraordinary job. It is thanks to opportunities like this that jobs are created, communities are built and hope is given to a territory that needs it.” Mezzaroma also thanked the Sports Federations and the Fiamme Oro for their decisive contribution to the success of the project.
The extraordinary government commissioner, Fabio Ciciliano, reiterated the importance of the “Pino Daniele” sports centre as a symbol of rebirth: “Only a year ago, what we see today was unthinkable. When I visited Caivano for the first time, the former sports center was in a state of devastation and abandonment. Today, however, it is a jewel in the crown not only for Caivano, but for all of Italy. Seeing children play and smile here fills the heart with joy and shows that rebirth is possible.”
