Dfter weeks of rumors and negotiations, one of the most followed sagas of the football summer has finally found its conclusion: Victor Osimhen will play for Galatasaray, at least until June, on loan from Napoli. The Nigerian striker landed last night at Istanbul's Atatürk airport, welcomed like a hero by a crowd of enthusiastic fans, ready to celebrate the arrival of one of the most anticipated players of the season.
“The atmosphere here is incredible. It’s a fantastic feeling. Galatasaray has one of the best groups of fans in the world. Mertens? I’m happy to be back. We talked before I came here.”, Osimhen told reporters immediately after his arrival in Turkey. In the next few hours, the player will undergo the usual medical tests before signing the contract that will officially sanction his move to the Turkish club.
The loan will be a dry one, with Galatasaray taking on the entire salary of osimhen, approximately 11 million euros for the season. However, the details of the agreement with Napoli include significant clauses: if the Azzurri were not able to sell the player by June 2024, an automatic renewal of the contract would be triggered, with an extension until 2027 and a termination clause set at approximately 80 million euros.
But Galatasaray is not stopping there. The Giallorossi club, very active on the market, has also focused on another big name: Adrien Rabiot. The French midfielder, currently a free agent after his experience at Juventus, is free to join any team. However, Rabiot is taking his time, hoping for an offer from the Premier League, before deciding on his future. Galatasaray is waiting for a response, but English competition could complicate their plans.
