The snow that has whitened Vesuvius from the top to the slopes is creating serious difficulties for road traffic. This is what emerged from a joint inspection conducted in these hours by the Local Police, Civil Protection and municipal technicians.
For security reasons, the commander of the Municipal Police of Ercolano (Naples), Nicola Vanacore, has signed a management order that prohibits vehicular transit along Via Osservatorio. The restriction concerns the stretch of road between the intersection with Via Vesuvio, in a place known as “La Siesta”, and the Piazzale di Quota 1000. The only exceptions are rescue and emergency vehicles.
The measure was necessary due to the critical conditions of the road, characterized by numerous curves that, with heavy snow, are particularly dangerous. Currently, the entire Vesuvius area is affected by continuous snowfall.
Since the early hours of the morning, the councilor for Local Police, Security and Civil Protection, Nunzio Spina, has been present on the territory together with the operators to monitor the situation and counter any damage. The checks will continue in the coming hours to guarantee safety and prevent further inconvenience.
