È A 26-year-old Serbian fugitive was arrested last night by the Carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Department: the man had escaped capture on 18 June 2024, during an operation conducted by the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Benevento.
The operation was aimed at executing eight precautionary measures issued by the Court of Benevento. The 26-year-old, the recipient of a custodial order in prison, was accused of criminal association, aggravated theft in competition, receiving stolen goods, material forgery and simulation of a crime. After managing to elude capture, he had disappeared until tonight, when the Carabinieri intercepted him along the Domitiana state road, during a routine territorial control service.
The man, on board a car, aroused the suspicion of the military for the suspicious maneuvers performed at their sight. Stopped for a check, he did not resist, but tried to pretend not to know Italian and declared that he had no identification documents or a driving license.
Taken to the barracks, he was identified thanks to cross-checks in the databases of the police forces. It emerged that the 26-year-old, formally domiciled in Naples but in fact homeless, had numerous criminal records and had been declared a fugitive after the failure to execute the precautionary measure ordered against him. After the formal procedures, the fugitive was transferred to the district prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, where it will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
