È a memorandum of understanding was signed today aimed at establishing a helicopter rescue service at the Nola civil hospital at the disposal of the ASL Napoli 3 Sud.
The agreement was signed by the Director General Giuseppe Russo; by General Roberto Nardone, Director of the Italian Army's Southern Heavy Maintenance Hub; and by the representatives of the air transport company Alidaunia Srl, Roberta Valentina Pucillo and Luca Consales, Deputy Ground Operations Manager.
Using the landing area
Under the terms of the agreement, the director of the military entity, Roberto Nardone, authorizes the ASL Napoli 3 Sud to temporarily use the landing area inside the southern heavy maintenance hub of via Staveco, available both day and night. The activation of the procedure for the use of the area and vehicles will be initiated at the instigation of the 118 service, directed by Salvatore Criscuolo.
The helicopter rescue service, also known as HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service), will be conducted using an Army area near the Nola hospital and will become active from Thursday 16 January.
Emergency Support
"This is - explains Giuseppe Russo - an extraordinary support for the management of health emergency cases at the Nola hospital. This is also in consideration of the fact that the Nola hospital is classified as a first level DEA, with a cardiology center of excellence, recently enriched by the Stereotaxis technology, a robot that significantly shortens the intervention times for the treatment of arrhythmias".
Alidaunia, for its part, carries out this service on behalf of the Campania Region and operates throughout the regional territory with two AW169 helicopters located in the operational bases of Naples and Salerno.
"To carry out night flight activities, it uses specially configured vehicles with trained and certified crews. Both helicopters are equipped with a rescue winch and operate in HEMS configuration, with an anesthetist and resuscitator, intensive care nurse, mountain rescuer on board, in addition to the pilots and the winch technician", concludes the ASL.
