Napoli – Two events full of meaning will accompany the Holy Week of the Church of Naples, desired by Cardinal Don Mimmo Battaglia to launch a strong and concrete message of peace: an unpublished hymn written with the maestro Enzo Avitabile and the celebration of the Mass of Holy Thursday in the symbolic heart of the city, the Maschio Angioino.
“Forgive us peace”: prayer becomes song
The song “Perdonaci la pace” was born from the collaboration between the Archbishop and the Neapolitan singer-songwriter, a collective prayer translated for the first time into Neapolitan and set to music by Avitabile. Not just a song, but a plea that becomes the voice of the city and of a people who reject violence and continue to believe in the daily construction of peace.
"Music is prayer, and prayer is a shared journey towards a better world," he explains. e. The song and the video clip will be available from today, April 12, on the social channels of the Church of Naples and the Maestro.
Holy Thursday at Maschio Angioino: the ritual of the Washing of the Feet with the peacemakers
On April 17, at 17:XNUMX p.m., the Mass in Coena Domini will be celebrated in the courtyard of the Maschio Angioino, transforming a place of war memory into a symbol of communion and service. During the rite of the Washing of the Feet, Don Mimmo will address the representatives of associations committed to social justice and nonviolence.
A simple but powerful gesture, which recalls the Gospel and becomes concrete testimony: peace is not only an ideal, but a daily action, made of service and courageous choices.
The celebration will conclude with the Eucharistic procession to the Basilica of San Giacomo degli Spagnoli, in the heart of the city, to remember that peace is built together, step by step.

I feel that these events are important for Naples, but I have some doubts about how music can really change things. Prayer is beautiful, but concrete actions are also needed. I hope that the message reaches everyone.
