Astrawberry – Over two thousand people marched last night in a vibrant torchlight procession to remember Martina Carbonaro, the 14-year-old brutally killed by her ex-boyfriend near the Moccia Stadium.
Leading the procession was a banner with the words "True love does not kill. Hello Martina". Among the participants were the mayor of Afragola with the municipal banner, the parish priest Don Maurizio Patriciello, and the young woman's parents, with her mother Enza Cossentino wearing a T-shirt depicting her daughter.
The route, starting from Piazza Municipio, was accompanied by a long silent applause, which was joined by numerous associations, representatives of parishes, schools and citizens. Also present were the students of the Istituto Superiore “A. Torrente” of Casoria, directed by the principal Annamaria Orso, where Martina studied.
Once at the Moccia Stadium, next to the farmhouse where the crime was committed, white balloons were released, marked by the boys' shout: “Martina lives”. On the altar of the camp, Martina's mother took the floor to renew her request for justice: “God forgives, I don't. No one will be able to bring Martina back to me” she declared, amid the emotion of those present.
The initiative, promoted by the local community, wanted to send a strong message against gender violence, involving families, friends and institutions in a choral embrace for the young victim.
