Bacoli – The Carabinieri Forestali of the Pozzuoli Unit have reported to the Judicial Authority the sole director and the project manager of the in-house company of the Municipality of Bacoli that manages the collection of urban waste.
The investigation, launched after an inspection activity, brought to light a series of very serious crimes that caused financial damage and environmental violations in the Campi Flegrei Regional Park.
The accusations: embezzlement and environmental abuse
The military found that the company, financed with public funds for the collection of waste on urban soil, had instead also disposed of waste produced by an important private commercial activity, illegally diverting resources intended for the community.
Furthermore, always using public money, the same company would have carried out illegal works in a private area falling within the SIC (Site of Community Interest) zone of the Campi Flegrei Park, carrying out:
Unauthorized mechanical weeding
Resurfacing the soil with topsoil
The alleged crimes
The two suspects were reported for: embezzlement to the detriment of the State (art. 316-bis cp) and violation of the law on protected areas (art. 30 L. 394/91). The investigation, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North, could have further developments, with possible political or administrative involvement.

It is truly astonishing how such wrongdoing can occur by a company that should serve the community. Investigations are necessary to clarify and ensure that public funds are used correctly and transparently.
