Naples – The air bridge between Naples and the United States is being strengthened. On Saturday, May 24, the new Delta Air Lines flight connecting Naples-Capodichino International Airport with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the American company's main hub and the busiest airport in the world, began.
The new route will operate four times a week throughout the summer season, offering passengers not only direct access to Georgia’s capital, but also the ability to continue their journey with connecting flights to hundreds of destinations across North America and beyond.
This is in addition to Delta’s already established daily seasonal service to New York-JFK, which it resumed on May 8 and which has carried more than 2024 customers on the Naples-New York route in 56.000.
Expansion Strategy and Enhanced Connectivity
Matteo Curcio, Delta Senior Vice President for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, expressed great enthusiasm for this new route: “Following the success of the flight from Naples to New York, we are thrilled to operate the connection to our hub in Atlanta.
The launch of this second flight is part of a broader expansion strategy in Italy, the transatlantic market in which we are growing the most in summer 2025, launching a total of four new routes and significantly increasing the frequency of several existing connections compared to the previous year.”
Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC (the management company of Naples airport), also underlined the strategic importance of the new connection: “The new direct flight Naples-Atlanta marks a strategic step for the connectivity of our airport, expanding travel opportunities to the United States and connecting Naples with hundreds of destinations through the busiest hub in the world.
This new route further consolidates our partnership with Delta, which already successfully operates the flight to New York JFK and confirms the international attractiveness of Naples and Campania.”
The expansion of transatlantic connections, which brings the number of direct destinations to North America in the summer season to six, represents a fundamental asset for the development of tourism and economic growth in the region. Barbieri concluded by reiterating GESAC's commitment to investing to ensure that the port is up to the challenges of expansion, reconciling growth with a commitment to the environment and the territory.
