More violence, more blood in the Neapolitan night. This time a spilled beer, a dirty shoe were enough to trigger a brutal attack that left two young people in the hospital. The scene of yet another episode: Piazzetta Orientale, among music and crowded clubs, in the heart of the nightlife.
According to the family's reconstruction, a young man was kicked and punched by a peer - whose name would correspond to "Salvatore" - supported by his girlfriend, after a futile provocation related to a few drops of beer that ended up on the ground. Four stitches under the eye for the main victim. But the one who paid an even higher price was his friend, suffering from limb-girdle dystrophy and with walking problems: having intervened to defend him, he was hit in the face with such ferocity that he suffered a fractured jaw and the loss of several teeth.
“We cannot accept that the risk of dying for a trifle is part of our children's night life”, the family wrote in a heartbreaking appeal published on social media, after filing a complaint and sharing photos and details of the incident. "Whoever saw it, speak up. Silence protects the violent, we cannot allow it."
Also relaunching the call for justice is the deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who openly speaks of a "near tragedy" and compares the episode to the fatal attacks that killed Francesco Pio Maimone and Santo Romano: “Once again, the fuse is a banality, but the reaction is blind, disproportionate, lethal. Those who feel they are masters of the night must be stopped, educated, punished.”
The incident has already been reported to the authorities by Borrelli, which asks the Police Headquarters and the Prosecutor's Office to deal with the case with the utmost urgency. But it does not limit itself to justice: "We need a cultural change of direction. We need to invest in civic and emotional education. Those who think that a dirty shoe should be punished with punches need re-education, and now."

It is truly sad that young people have to face such brutal situations just because of a spilled beer. Violence is never the solution, and more education and respect among people would be needed to avoid these tragedies.
