Napoli – Almost a scene from a horror movie, not a road accident: the two victims of the impact that occurred around lunchtime along the Naples ring road died decapitated.
They are an 80-year-old man, Gaetano Di Mauro, resident in Caivano, and a woman, whose personal details have not yet been disclosed. The man, well known in his town for his passion for cabaret and shows in local schools, was traveling with a woman.
The accident, which occurred in the direction Capodichino, involved a heavy vehicle driven by a truck driver with no criminal record, coming from Pozzuoli. The driver immediately stopped to provide assistance and was subjected to checks and alcohol tests, as is standard practice.
The ring road closed for a few hours
The medical emergency services intervened on site, Police Police and the staff of the Naples Ring Road. The Italia 90 junction, closed at the entrance towards Capodichino for about half an hour, has been reopened without further disruption to traffic, as communicated by the Naples Ring Road company.
Road accident emergency in Naples in 2025
THEaccident today comes in a worrying context for road safety in Naples. In the first six months of 2025, the city has recorded an alarming increase in fatal accidents.
According to preliminary data from the Highway Police, from January to June 2025 there were over 30 victims of road accidents on urban and extra-urban roads in Naples, with an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2024. The Tangenziale, a crucial artery for city mobility, is confirmed as one of the most dangerous stretches, with numerous accidents often linked to high speeds, distraction and violations of the highway code.
Experts point the finger at several factors: heavy traffic, the presence of heavy vehicles and the carelessness of some drivers, especially motorcyclists, who often travel in high-risk environments.
Today's tragedy, with its devastating impact, relaunches the urgency of targeted interventions: from increased road controls to improved signage, to awareness campaigns for more responsible driving. The city, still in shock, awaits concrete answers to stem a silent massacre that continues to claim victims.

Good morning I am particularly shocked by the news it is an impressive tragedy and atrocity. From Paris I have no words.
