Napoli – What was meant to be the symbol of a Napoli projected into the future, the Centro Direzionale is today in a state of profound degradation.
The escalators, essential for mobility within the complex, are mostly out of order and have turned into real open-air landfills, swallowed up by waste of all kinds.
Despite the disheartening situation, there are those who continue to demonstrate a commendable civic sense. Romeo Gestioni employees reported the situation to the deputy of Alleanza Verdi-Sinistra, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, denouncing a situation of incivility, vandalism and abandonment.
“Here we clean even if it is not foreseen by the contracts with ANM, we do it for the love of our city,” Romeo employees say. “But there are no controls and everything becomes dirty again in a few hours.” A gesture of good will that clashes daily with the lack of adequate management and supervision.
The deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli intervened harshly on the issue, relaunching the alarm: "Structural interventions and daily, ordinary, continuous management are needed. The Centro Direzionale has the potential to attract investments, work, life. But without a real project, it will only become an 'attraction' for rats, desperate people, vandals and criminals."
Borrelli then concluded with a heartfelt appeal to the institutions: “Naples is not just the waterfront: it needs vision, coherence, responsibility. Save the Centro Direzionale before it becomes the symbol of a city that gives up on regenerating itself.” His words underline the urgency of a comprehensive intervention that goes beyond simple cleaning, to restore dignity and functionality to a strategic area of the city.
