Ua journey through nature, culture and authentic flavours. The third stage of I Viaggi del Gusto e del Sapere, the project conceived by the journalist and food and wine critic Giuseppe Giorgio together with Pasquale Casillo, owner of the trattoria-pizzeria “Ieri, Oggi, Domani” in Naples, stopped in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park, to discover the Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio DOP.
After Cetara and Vico Equense, the format reached the Masseria dello Sbirro, an excellent agricultural reality committed to the protection of Vesuvian crops. Among rows of Caprettone and Piedirosso and ancient terraces cultivated with cherry tomatoes, the guests experienced an immersion in the rhythms of the earth and its harsh and generous beauty. Hosting the event was Cristina Leardi, president of the Consortium for the Protection of Pomodorino del Piennolo DOP, accompanied by her husband Carlo Cozzolino, farmer and custodian of the family's peasant memory.
Leading the story is Professor Vincenzo Peretti of the Federico II University, accompanied by exponents of the scientific, food and wine and business world, including Antonio Limone, former director of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Mezzogiorno, and engineer Pino Coletti, CEO of the Authentico platform.
The day ended with a press lunch at the trattoria “Ieri, Oggi, Domani”, where the products just discovered in the fields became protagonists in the kitchen. Chef Antonio Castellano and pizza chef Marco Bustelli created a menu inspired by the flavors of the Vesuvian land: from “PasCuotto” with Pomodorino del Piennolo, mountain oregano and extra virgin olive oil, to Mezzanelli di Gragnano with scarpariello, to burrata with cherry tomato gazpacho, white peach and fresella. There was also room for ricotta with cherry tomato jam and “Dolce Pomodoro” by mon Art: a signature dessert with Greek yogurt cheesecake, cherry jelly, spiced ganache and hazelnut cake.
To complete the experience, the wines of the Masseria: Caprettone, Piedirosso and Lacryma Christi, symbols of the extraordinary minerality of the volcanic soils.
A new success for I Viaggi del Gusto e del Sapere, which confirms itself as an initiative capable of uniting territory, agricultural knowledge and gastronomic culture, telling an authentic, industrious and full of charm Campania.

The article is very interesting and describes well the journey between nature and culture. I would like to know more about how the places to visit were chosen and what other typical products will be presented in the future.
