Pusher arrested after scooter getaway in Aversa
He failed to stop at the Carabinieri checkpoint and attempted to escape on a scooter, throwing away some of the drugs to dispose of along the way. But his escape lasted only a few minutes. A 20-year-old man, originally from Trentola Ducenta and already known to law enforcement, was arrested yesterday afternoon by officers from the local station after a chase that began at Aversa, in via Porta San Giovanni.
Riding a white Honda SH scooter, without a helmet and behaving suspiciously, he attracted the attention of the Carabinieri, who ordered him to stop. His response was sudden acceleration and dangerous maneuvers in the city traffic to try to outrun the officers. His escape attempt, however, ended shortly thereafter on Via Alessandro Bisceglie, where he was caught and stopped, thanks in part to the timely intervention of an off-duty municipal police officer. Before being apprehended, the young man had attempted to throw away an aluminum container. However, the Carabinieri quickly recovered it: inside were 21 doses of crack cocaine, ready for sale.
During a personal search, the dealer was found in possession of €590 in cash, two cell phones, and clear evidence of drug dealing. The searches were extended to his home, where officers discovered a further drug shipment: 39 doses of crack and eight of cocaine, carefully hidden in a jar. Another €8 in cash was also seized.
The final toll is heavy: 60 doses of crack, 8 doses of cocaine, and €2.405 believed to be the proceeds of the retail sale of narcotics. The young man was arrested for possession with intent to sell and placed under house arrest, pending judicial decisions.
