A fire in Casoria causes train delays.
A fire that broke out near the tracks in the Casoria area, just outside Naples, disrupted rail traffic along one of Italy's most strategic lines. The blaze, which broke out in the early hours of the day, forced firefighters to respond immediately, but the flames have already caused delays of up to 50 minutes for dozens of trains.
Both regional and high-speed trains operated by Trenitalia and Italo, both direct and scheduled, departing from Salerno for Naples, Rome, Florence, Bologna, Milan, and Turin, were affected. The delays had a domino effect on the entire rail system, paralyzing the main routes in central and northern Italy and stranding hundreds of commuters and tourists.
The teams of firefighters They are still on site to put out the fire and secure the line, while the Italian State Railways (FS) are reporting delays and possible cancellations throughout the day. The cause of the blaze is still unclear, but the incident once again highlights the vulnerability of Italy's railway infrastructure.
