Arzano-Casoria-Casavatore – The consortium's ongoing legal enforcement investigation, conducted in conjunction with a specific investigation, has effectively revoked the concession for the "Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio" and "Santa Maria della Pietà" burial sites, managed by the brotherhoods of the same name. The sites, which comprise over 5000 burial niches, have been transferred directly to the cemetery authority.
After nearly a century, following a special procedure and endless back-and-forth with the local managers of the same confraternities, the Consortium's President, architect Luigi Pappadia, after consulting with the board of directors, instructed director Sabato Terracciano to take over. Given the severe state of disrepair, decay, and neglect, with structural and system issues that posed a risk to public safety, as verified by the expert's assessments, the consortium decided to enforce the law and the Statute by revoking the concessions.
This epilogue would have arisen following repeated warnings which they allegedly failed to comply with, violating the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance obligations set forth in the current Mortuary Police Regulations.
Following the declaration of forfeiture, the possession of the buildings by the Confraternity of Santa Maria della Pietà and Buon Consiglio, as written in the ordinance, would be considered sine titulo e – given the nature of state property.
The handover, after a specific report was drawn up, was held in the presence of representatives of the Consortium and the Curia, who also filed an appeal with the Regional Administrative Court against the cemetery consortium, represented by the well-known lawyer Nicola Lettieri. The Regional Administrative Court rejected the request for a stay of proceedings pending a determination of the merits. The organization's leaders and the three mayors are reportedly in close contact with the Archbishop of Napoli Dominic Battle.

The article addresses an important issue regarding cemetery management and the rules to be followed. Respect for the rules is essential, but at the same time, the human aspect of the confraternities involved in this situation must also be considered.
