Catania fans involved in a road accident in Salerno.
What was supposed to be a journey of excitement and passion turned into a rush to the hospital. Nine Catania fans, all members of the Curva Sud, were injured in a car accident near Salerno. The group had departed Catania for Norcia, in Umbria, where the Catania team is on a summer retreat for the upcoming football season.
The toll is heavy: two of the nine injured are hospitalized in critical condition, with a guarded prognosis. One is in Polla hospital, while the other was transferred, conscious but in serious condition, to Vallo della Lucania hospital. The cause of the crash is still under investigation: law enforcement is reconstructing the accident to determine what caused the vehicle to overturn.
Emergency responders and traffic police patrols immediately arrived on the scene, managing the rescue operations and ensuring traffic safety. Meanwhile, the red and blue club, in constant contact with the police headquarters, Perugia, is considering whether or not to confirm the public events scheduled for tomorrow: the friendly match with a local team and the official presentation in the square.
