LAcco Ameno – The issue of the demolitions of homes deemed illegal, but in some cases regularized by amnesties, continues to be a topic of discussion in Ischia.
In Lacco Ameno, the impending demolition of a house, declared legal by its owners, has sparked a grassroots protest. The De Simone family, composed of six members, including a 92-year-old man with a 100% disability, risks losing their home, despite having obtained legalization through a housing amnesty, as reported in an open letter published by local media.
Next Sunday, at 20 p.m., Piazza Capitello will host a solidarity march organized by the Coordination of Committees for the Right to Housing in the Campania Region. The protest will pass through the main street of Lacco Ameno to Piazza Santa Restituta, in front of the town hall, where a rally and a meeting with Mayor Giacomo Pascale will be held.
The committee's representatives denounce a paradox: "The mayor confirmed that the house had been remediated, with the approval of the Municipality and the Superintendency, yet the demolition was ordered by August 27th, despite a court hearing scheduled for September 25th.
Why the rush? Why not wait for the judge's ruling? The case, which fuels the debate on the fairness of demolitions, calls into question institutions and citizens, ready to make their voices heard.

The situation in Lacco Ameno is truly complex and difficult to understand. The people at risk of losing their homes deserve to be heard and for justice to be served, despite the legal challenges.
