Napoli – The State Police arrested last night a 42-year-old Neapolitan, already known to the police for specific precedents, on charges of robbery and illegal possession of a clandestine weapon.
The intervention was triggered following a report to the Operations Room of the Police Station Vicar-Mercato, who reported a robbery in a minimarket on Via Forcella. The officers, who quickly arrived on the scene, identified the suspect who, at the sight of them, attempted to flee through the alleys of the historic center, trying to hide a weapon in an Enel meter in Vico Croce Sant'Agostino la Zecca.
After a chase, the 42-year-old was stopped with difficulty. Inside the counter, the police recovered a 6.35 caliber semi-automatic pistol, with a magazine containing one round.
The investigations established that the man, shortly before, had stolen food from the minimarket and returned armed, threatening the shopkeepers to obtain 20 euros. The timely intervention of the agents interrupted the criminal action.
A subsequent check at the detainee's home led to the discovery of another 6.35 caliber cartridge, compatible with the seized weapon. In light of the evidence collected, the 42-year-old was arrested and placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.

It's strange how people can commit such violent acts. Robbery in a convenience store is an act that endangers not only those who work there but also the customers. I hope justice is done.
