An armed raid, a hunting rifle pointed at the ex-partner's home, and a threat smacking of the Camorra. It happened last March in Castel Volturno, but the two perpetrators were only arrested today. The operation was conducted by officers from the Caserta Flying Squad and the Carabinieri of Mondragone, on a mandate from the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate. Those arrested are charged with a long list of aggravated crimes: persistent threats, illegal possession and carrying of a firearm, shooting in a residential area, and mafia facilitation.
According to investigators' reconstruction, it all began with the car arriving at the woman's home in Castel Volturno. Inside were one of the two suspects—the victim's ex-partner—and another man. As soon as the woman's attention was drawn, the passenger grabbed a hunting rifle and fired: two shots against the perimeter wall and the car parked in the courtyard. They then fled, escorted by a second vehicle serving as cover.
But it didn't end there. A few minutes later, the perpetrator returned to the scene, once again taking up the gun and pointing it at the woman's new partner at chest height. This was an act that investigators are quick to characterize as mafia intimidation: the two arrested men are believed to be close to the Mafia clan. Casale, rooted for years in the area between Mondragone and Castel Volturno.

This is a truly serious and alarming situation. I can't believe people commit such violent acts. Justice must take its course and severely punish those who break the law like these two individuals.
