A breath of fresh air for Soccavo, a new lease of life for the neighborhood's sporting and social heart. A modern public playground is about to open on Viale Traiano, within the Salvatore Costantino park: a free, equipped area that will become a hub for inclusion, movement, and participation.
The project, strongly supported by the City of Naples, received €800 in funding through the national "Illumina" call for proposals promoted by Sport e Salute SpA at the initiative of the Minister for Sport and Youth. The goal is clear: to invest in the revitalization of the most vulnerable neighborhoods through sport, understood as a tool for urban regeneration and social cohesion.
“We are enhancing a strategic area – underlines the councilor Emanuela Ferrante – Offering a safe, inclusive, and free space where sport becomes a lever for well-being and socialization. The playground will be a hub for young people, families, and associations, with activities promoted directly by Sport e Salute. Naples thus demonstrates its ability to harness national resources and transform them into concrete opportunities for its citizens.

It's a great initiative that's needed in neighborhoods like Soccavo, but I don't know if a playground alone can make a difference. More attention is also needed to other social and sporting issues. Let's hope so.
