IBritish Prime Minister Starmer, during his government's cabinet meeting, had the opportunity to announce that the United Kingdom is strongly committed to recognizing the state of Palestine next autumn, before the UN General Assembly.
Unless Israel commits to a ceasefire in Gaza, renounces its annexation of the West Bank, and embarks on a process aimed at realizing the long-awaited “two-state solution.”
Predictably, Starmer's stated intentions have sparked the ire of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who believes that recognizing a Palestinian state would pose a threat not only to Israel but to the United Kingdom itself.
US President Trump, aligning himself with his Israeli counterpart, said he viewed the recognition in question as a gift to Hamas. Recall that on July 25, French President Emmanuel Macron also announced that France would recognize the Palestinian state this fall.

It's interesting to see the British government taking such a strong stance on recognizing Palestine. But it remains to be seen how the conflicting parties will react and whether there will be genuine dialogue between the countries involved.
