NNaples - A large-scale operation by law enforcement and the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office to protect state-owned maritime property and safeguard the coastal environment. The inspections, coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, covered a vast stretch of coast, from Torre del Greco to Massa Lubrense, resulting in numerous seizures, reports, and fines.
The operation, which saw the participation of Port authoritiesThe Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, State Police, and Local Police, with the technical support of ARPAC, focused on inspecting beach concessions, illegal occupations, and illegal dumping. This operation follows a similar one on July 24, confirming the authorities' commitment to combating illegal activities on the Campania coast.
The balance of the controls
The results of the checks, still ongoing, are significant:
Massa Lubrense (Marina del Cantone): Approximately 12.000 square meters of water have been cleared and returned to public use, having been illegally occupied by unauthorized moorings, including plastics and ropes that pose a danger to navigation and the marine environment.
Sorrento (Marina Grande): Thirty-five tables and 35 chairs were seized from illegally occupying over 118 square meters of beach. The port concessionaire was reported at large for illegally converting the area from a beach resort to a restaurant.
Greek's towerA total of 146 square meters of public land on Via Litoranea and La Scala/Via Calastro were cleared. Forty-three chairs, 43 umbrellas, and two tables used for the illegal operation of a beach club were seized. On Via Mortelle, an unauthorized removable ladder for access to the sea was seized.
Sanctions and commitment against illegality
Eight fines totaling approximately €8 were issued for irregular use of concessions and violations of the beach safety ordinance. The Public Prosecutor's Office reiterated its commitment to coordinating inspections of the proper use of public maritime property throughout the summer season, in order to ensure free use of the coastline and the protection of the marine environment.
