San Lorenzo remembers Genny, a beloved young pizza chef
SLorenzo mourns the loss of Genny, a young pizza chef of just 22 years old, well-known and respected in the neighborhood and among his colleagues. He worked at one of Gino Sorbillo's restaurants, a symbol of Neapolitan pizza tradition.
Genny died in the hospital, where he had been hospitalized for several weeks due to a recently diagnosed serious illness. His passing not only took his young life, but also a promising figure in Neapolitan pizza making: a passionate, tireless pizza chef, beloved by those who worked with him and those who tasted his pizza.
He was also remembered with emotion Gino Sorbillo, who expressed her grief in a post on social media, accompanied by a photo of the boy:
I had hoped until the very end. You fought bravely, always with a smile, even when life was tough on you. You were a tireless worker, a pizza chef with golden hands and a soul full of dreams. A week ago, in the hospital, you said to me, 'Now that I'm out of here, I'm going to make a great pizza.' Unfortunately, that day never came. Today, you carry that pizza in the hearts of those who loved you, because your memory is filled with love, hard work, and passion. Goodbye, brother, we will truly miss you.
But since yesterday, many people on social media have been posting videos, photos, and comments remembering Genny: a boy loved, respected, and well-liked by many.
The San Lorenzo neighborhood gathers around Genny's family and friends, in memory of a young man who left a profound mark, made of smiles, commitment, and love for his profession.
