AOnce again, a life shattered in the workplace. A tragedy that adds to a seemingly endless list, and this time it occurred between Francolise and Sparanise, in the heart of the Agro Caleno region.
The victim is Demetrio Rima, a worker 58-year-old man, originally from and resident in Casal di Principe, electrocuted while carrying out maintenance work in an Enel cabin.
The dynamics and the rescue
The tragedy occurred in the Sant'Andrea del Pizzone area, a hamlet of Francolise. According to initial reports, Demetrio Rima, an employee of CEBAT SPA, was electrocuted while at work.
The alarm was raised immediately, but the arrival of the 118 paramedics could only confirm the man's death.
On the spot were attended by i Carabinieri of the Francolise Station, with the support of the Mondragone Territorial Department, and the specialized technicians of the ASL for safety at work.
The area of the accident has been cordoned off by the judicial authorities, who have launched an investigation to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the tragedy and determine any responsibilities.
The community's grief and the memory of the "runner"
The news of Demetrio Rima's death has left the entire community of Agro Caleno, where he was well-known and respected, in deep grief. Demetrio was an avid runner, a member of the Run LAB group, who remember him with touching and sorrowful words.
"I don't know how to express the loss of a friend with whom I shared miles, hard work, and smiles," wrote club president Lorenzo Vanacore, in a message expressing the loss of someone who has lost a friend. "I will always carry with me the memory of your fervent determination, your sincere friendship, and your unwavering devotion to our club."
The death of Demetrio Rima, a worker and passionate athlete, is yet another dramatic reminder of the fragility of life and the need to ensure maximum safety in the workplace. It's a battle Italy continues to lose, day after day, with a death toll that shows no sign of abating.
