EA never-ending water crisis in Irpinia. In several municipalities in the province of Avellino, especially in the hilly and mountainous areas, water is arriving in dribs and drabs: a few hours of supply per day, sometimes less, and taps run dry for the rest of the day.
In Monteforte Irpino, an exasperated resident decided to turn directly to the Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio b, also sending a video to show their kitchen invaded by dirty dishes: impossible to wash them without running water.
“They cut off our water for days,” the woman complains. “We can't live like this in this heat. It comes for three hours, if all goes well, then nothing again. This morning it came at 6:20, but only a little, and by 9:25 it was gone. Now, perhaps it will come back tomorrow morning. In the upper area, where I live, the problem is even more serious.”
This management has been defined as "unacceptable" by the citizens themselves, who recall that water outages are a chronic plague, which however worsened in the summer of 2025.
Borrelli, together with the provincial co-spokesperson for Europa Verde, Luigi Tuccia, announced an urgent question to Alto Calore Servizi SpA and the Campania Region:
"It is unacceptable that entire communities remain without water for most of the day, in the middle of summer and with high temperatures. Citizens have the right to a guaranteed minimum service and transparent management of water resources."
The incident reignites the debate over water management in Irpinia and the need for a special plan. This problem affects not only small towns, but the very image of a region that, paradoxically, lies in one of the most water-rich areas in Campania.
