The Eccellenza semifinal between Puteolana Real Normanna and Nola 1925, played on May 11th in Aversa, ended well after the final whistle, with violence spilling off the pitch and into the streets. This morning, the Caserta State Police executed two precautionary measures against GDM, 24, and AC, 36, well-known Nola ultras. The former was placed under house arrest, while the latter was banned from residing in Aversa.
The charges are serious: aggravated injuries in competition during a sporting event. According to the reconstruction by the DigosThe two—along with other members of the organized gang—are alleged to have taken part in the attack that took place in Teverola immediately after the match. Hooded and armed with blunt objects, they caused panic outside a bar, beating a young man so ferociously that he suffered a compound fracture to his elbow and a 90-day prognosis. The young man had managed to escape to a bar, but was caught and brutally beaten.
The investigation, coordinated by the Naples North Prosecutor's Office, identified those responsible through video surveillance footage, witness statements, and investigations. In the hours immediately following, two other fans, one from Nola and one from Aversa, were arrested in flagrante delicto.
In addition to the precautionary measures, the Caserta Police Headquarters also issued a ban on both ultras: they will be banned from entering a stadium for a period of between two and five years. The Prosecutor's Office firmly condemned the incident, calling the attack "particularly brutal" and completely unrelated to the values of sport. This represents another blow to violent fans and a clear signal from the authorities: the stadium will never be a free zone.
