The Royal Palace of Naples has a new director: Tiziana D'Angelo, an internationally renowned archaeologist and current director of the Archaeological Park of Paestum and Velia, has been appointed to manage the historic Neapolitan residence. The appointment, ordered by decree of Massimo Osanna, Director General of Museums, marks a new phase in the management of one of the city's iconic monuments.
D'Angelo succeeds Paola Ricciardi, recently appointed ABAP Superintendent for the Metropolitan Area of Naples, and will assume leadership of the Palazzo's day-to-day, administrative, and accounting management, including Villa Pignatelli and its museums. His role is to ensure the continuity of operations and the smooth running of the numerous maintenance and enhancement projects currently underway.
With a high-profile international curriculum, spanning Oxford, Harvard, Cambridge, and Nottingham, Tiziana D'Angelo is one of the youngest and most knowledgeable directors at the Ministry of Culture. Her appointment comes in a particularly important year for Naples, which celebrates its 2500th anniversary and aims to relaunch its cultural image on the global stage.
“The temporary delegation is a great honor for me – declared D'Angelo – and I will work to ensure that all ongoing projects are completed on time, helping to enhance the extraordinary collections and promote the city throughout the world." With a dialogue already underway with Director Osanna and her predecessor Ricciardi, the new regent is preparing to lead the Palace towards a future of rigor, innovation, and cultural revival.
