NOLA – The State Police have cracked down on three owners of car sales and rental businesses, accusing them of failing to comply with anti-receiving laws.
The operation, conducted by officers from the Nola Highway Police, is part of a broader plan to combat illegal vehicle trafficking and the misuse of rental cars to commit crimes.
Violations and heavy fines
The investigation, launched in July, focused on car dealerships and rental agencies in the municipality of Nola. Here, officers reported two individuals, a 50-year-old and a 30-year-old, who owned two different companies, respectively.
The charges concern violation of the "provisions regarding vehicle rental contracts for the prevention of particularly serious crimes," a measure aimed at combating terrorism and organized crime. The two were also sanctioned for the unauthorized operation of their businesses, with a fine of approximately €8.000.
Extension of checks and new complaints
Further investigations, extended to neighboring municipalities, led to the filing of a third individual: a 23-year-old, owner of a company based in Afragola, also accused of violating the same provisions of the law.
The Highway Police's work continues, aiming to identify and crack down on those who, by failing to comply with regulations, fuel the illicit market for counterfeit vehicles and provide vehicles for the commission of crimes.
