The operation
The escape of the man who had terrorized the Vomero with two robberies in just a few hours. The State Police arrested a repeat offender believed responsible for a successful robbery and a second attempted robbery, both of which occurred on July 31st in the hilly neighborhood of Naples.
The arrest was made in execution of a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of Napoli at the request of the Prosecutor's Office. The man, already known to law enforcement, allegedly targeted two women: he approached them in his car and, pointing a gun, forced them to hand over their bags. The first robbery was reported to the Carabinieri in Chiaia, the second—only an attempted robbery—to the Vomero police station.
The victims' testimonies and details about the car allowed officers to cross-reference the information with investigative software, quickly identifying the suspect. Arrested a few hours after the events, he was immediately identified by the two victims and transferred to prison, where he awaits preliminary hearing.
