Naples, "I'd like to bring you the sea": Nursing students donate 'sea in a bottle' to cancer patients.

Naples – For those who will be spending the month of August in a hospital ward, far from family and the sea, even a small gesture can be a moment of comfort. It is in this spirit that the students of the Nursing Degree Program at the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli," currently completing their studies at the Pascale Institute in Naples, have decided to donate a symbolic "sea in a bottle" to hospitalized cancer patients.

Inside the small container are some elements that recall summer and serenity: sea sand, a shell, some seaweed, and a touching message: "I would like to take you to the sea, or rather, bring you the sea."

A gesture that goes beyond assistance

The bottles were made entirely by the students, who personally oversaw every detail of the project, transforming a simple object into a concrete sign of support for those facing the difficult journey of the disease.

"The bottles were carefully prepared by the students themselves," explains Maria Rosaria Esposito, director of the Nursing Degree Program and coordinator of nursing activities at Pascale, "who dedicated time and attention to every detail. This collaborative effort demonstrates how a nurse's education is also built through empathy, sensitivity, and the willingness to be there for them during the most difficult times."

The human value of care

The initiative represents one of the most authentic aspects of healthcare, where quality care is combined with attention to the emotional dimension of the person.

The general director of the Pascale Institute, Maurizio Di Mauro, also emphasized this: "This initiative represents the deepest meaning of care: always putting the person at the center, not only through excellent therapies, but also through gestures of humanity and closeness that can ease the illness's journey."

The "sea in a bottle" thus becomes much more than a simple gift: it is a message of hope, a reminder not to feel alone, and a way to bring a fragment of summer to the hospital wards, reminding patients that, even in the most difficult moments, healing also comes through listening, empathy, and human closeness.
