Blitz on Naples' beaches: seizures and reports of illegal occupations and unauthorized sales.

On August 12, 2026, a joint operation uncovered an illegal occupation of approximately 400 square meters of public maritime property on the beaches of Naples, blocking public access to several areas. During the inspections, coordinated by the Port Authority of Naples in collaboration with the San Ferdinando police station and the Chiaia operational unit of the local police, hundreds of sun loungers, umbrellas, chairs, and tables placed without authorization were found.

At the same time, an illegal food sales and service business was discovered, lacking any commercial or health permits. Law enforcement officials filed criminal charges against five individuals and imposed administrative fines on five others. The illegal equipment and food products were seized and removed, thus restoring free use of the public property.

The beaches affected by the checks are Donn'Anna, Lido Mappatella, Sermoneta, and the Port of Mergellina. The Port Authority emphasized that surveillance activities will continue uninterrupted even in the final weeks of the summer season to ensure compliance with regulations and the protection of public property.
