The drug seized
Naples – A pusher with no criminal record and a drug that's increasingly focused on image, names, and references that appeal to young people. This is the scenario that emerged during a check by Carabinieri officers from the Naples Capodimonte station, who are conducting evening and night shifts to prevent incidents of public disturbance in parks frequented by young people.
It was just after 10:00 PM when officers were driving along Via Nicolardi and noticed a white Renault Clio with three people inside. The driver was a 32-year-old man with no criminal record, as were the other two occupants, both in their 30s. All were locals.
The three try to justify their presence by talking about a simple walk, but the police decide to proceed with a search of the car.
Four bags containing a total of over 30 grams of hashish and just over 10 grams of marijuana were found under the driver's seat. One of the bags bore the writing "ALESSIO."
The 32-year-old was then taken to the police station for further investigation. It was during the personal search that more drugs were discovered: 50 grams of hashish were hidden in his underwear.
Another name appears on the block, designed to catch the attention of the military: “AKATSUKI HASH”.
The writing appears to recall the term Akatsuki, the criminal group featured in the popular manga and anime series Naruto. It's impossible to determine, based on the available evidence, whether it's actually a trademark or an organized trade name, but the choice of name seems at least significant.
A language that seems to transform the packaging of the drug into a form of "merchandising", using references to pop culture and youth imagery to make the product more recognizable and appealing.
At that point, the 32-year-old's home was also searched. In the bedroom, inside a box stored in the desk, the Carabinieri found six more blocks of hashish, weighing a total of almost 90 grams, as well as two small bags containing approximately 35 grams of marijuana.
Furthermore, during the operation, the 32-year-old's iPhone 17 rang several times. The same name always appeared on the display: "ALESSIO."
The police are not ruling out the possibility that this person may be the recipient of the envelope with the same writing found in the car. This is an element that investigators may eventually investigate further.
Drugs, money and packaging material
During the search, the phone, the material used to package the drugs, and 360 euros in cash were also seized.
Following the investigation, the 32-year-old was arrested and transferred to prison, where he remains awaiting trial.
