Naples, nighttime checks in Posillipo: traffic, illegal parking, and illegal parking attendants are being cracked down on.

Naples – Nighttime checks are being conducted in Posillipo, where weekend nightlife once again impacts traffic and the livability of local residents. The spotlight is particularly on Via Francesco Petrarca, one of the most popular scenic streets on the hill, which is regularly visited in the evening by a heavy flow of cars and people heading to the neighborhood's bars.

The operation was carried out by Carabinieri from the Bagnoli Company of Naples, supported by officers from the Naples Operations and Radiomobile Unit and Municipal Police officers. This joint operation was designed to monitor the area and combat irregular behavior, particularly related to traffic, parking, and the presence of illegal parking attendants.

The balance of the controls

During the operation, 80 people were identified, 25 of whom had previous police records. The checks also involved 38 vehicles.

Eight violations of the Highway Code were reported, resulting in total fines of €6.400. Illegal parking management was also targeted: two parking attendants were fined, while a third was reported for failure to comply with the DACUR (Regional Traffic Act), the measure that prohibited him from accessing certain urban areas.

Traffic and nightlife, an open hub

Via Petrarca remains one of the city's busiest nightlife hotspots, especially on weekend evenings. The influx of people to the area's bars, restaurants, and clubs often leads to increased traffic and increased parking space constraints, fueling residents' calls for greater control.

The purpose of the checks is to ensure traffic safety and prevent illegal activities, while also ensuring orderly use of the area. The checks, according to law enforcement, will continue into the coming evenings.
