Naples, young robbers on the run, movie-like chase: two minors arrested
Naples – A long and dangerous chase, two minors arrested, and a series of robberies that investigators are trying to uncover. This is the outcome of the operation conducted by the State Police in Villaricca, Arzano, and Secondigliano, which concluded with the arrest of two 16- and 17-year-olds, both with no criminal record.
The two are charged with aggravated robbery and possession of weapons or objects capable of causing harm. According to the officers' reconstruction, they allegedly operated on a scooter, with the passenger armed with a pistol, later determined to be a replica without the red cap.
But the investigative picture may not yet be complete. Investigators are currently investigating whether the two minors may also be involved in other incidents reported in the area in recent months. This hypothesis will need to be confirmed during the investigation.
It all started yesterday afternoon, when the Operations Room received a report of a robbery at a gas station in Villaricca. The robbery was reportedly carried out by two men with their faces covered.
Officers from the Secondigliano police station set out on their trail, intercepting them in the industrial area of Arzano, inside another petrol station.
Here, the scooter's passenger, armed with a gun, allegedly threatened a gas station attendant, stealing a sum of money. It was at that point that the situation escalated, sparking a chase that would continue to the Secondigliano neighborhood.
Once they reached the Secondigliano area, the passenger got off the scooter and attempted to walk away. However, the police managed to catch up with him and subdue him after a struggle.
During the check, the young man was allegedly found in possession of over a thousand euros in cash and a box cutter. The scooter driver, however, continued to flee, accelerating and dragging an officer, who sustained injuries.
The escape didn't end even after the first stop. A second pursuit ensued, during which the driver allegedly engaged in dangerous maneuvers, putting other road users at risk.
The officers continued to chase the young man to Via Comunale della Luce in Naples, where they managed to subdue him, not without difficulty, after another struggle. The second minor was also checked: he was carrying €290 in cash.
Furthermore, during the escape, the driver allegedly disposed of the gun, throwing it into a lot on Via Ferrara, in Arzano. The weapon, a replica without the red cap, was later recovered by the police.
Following the investigation, both boys were arrested. They are currently being held at the Colli Aminei reception center, where they are being held by the juvenile justice authorities.
The most striking aspect of the case concerns the profiles of the two arrested men. According to information that has emerged, both come from families described as being free from criminal circles, are regular high school students, and have no criminal records.
These factors make the investigators' work even more delicate, as they are now called upon to reconstruct the two young men's possible role in other incidents.
Investigations are continuing to determine possible connections to approximately twenty robberies and assaults reported in the northern Naples area in recent months. At this time, however, any involvement of the two minors in other robberies remains to be determined and cannot be considered proven based on the arrests alone.
The pursuit and recovery of the gun represent a starting point for investigators, who are trying to determine whether there may be a broader motive behind the two alleged incidents. Further investigation will determine whether the two men are solely responsible for the crimes for which they were arrested or whether further evidence may emerge against them.
