Naples – A rendezvous planned within the confines of an apartment in the heart of Naples suddenly turned into a nightmare, averted only by the victim's quick thinking and the residents' immediate reaction. This is what happened yesterday evening in the Mergellina neighborhood, where a South American woman managed to escape an attack by raising the alarm from a balcony.
According to the reconstruction, the situation escalated inside a local pied-à-terre following a heated argument sparked by the client's demands on the escort. Faced with the man's aggressive behavior and overcome by fear, the woman realized she was in danger and desperately sought a way out, leaning out onto the balcony to cry for help.
The desperate cries did not fall on deaf ears. The crowd that usually fills the area's streets in the evening hours immediately mobilized. Residents and passersby not only promptly dialed the police, but also surrounded the building to block any possible escape routes, putting psychological pressure on the attacker while they waited for the patrol cars.
State Police officers responded to the scene, but had a hard time containing the tension. As he left the building, the man was subjected to insults and protests from the angry crowd that had gathered in the street. He was subsequently charged with attempted sexual assault.
The incident, aided by the strong media coverage and the spontaneous sensationalism of passersby, quickly became the center of online debate. Several videos, which went viral online and were also shared by MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli on his Facebook page, capture the heated moments of the police intervention and the climate of intense public outrage that characterized the evening in the Neapolitan neighborhood.
