Tragedy at the Poggiomarino cemetery: worker falls during a burial and is in critical condition.

An accident at work occurred late yesterday afternoon at the Poggiomarino municipal cemetery, where a 58-year-old man, an employee of a funeral home, was seriously injured during a burial.

According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, the worker fell from a ladder while performing a burial inside a private chapel. The fall occurred from a height of approximately three meters.

The fall and the serious injuries

The man, originally from Scafati, reportedly struck his head violently upon impact with the ground, also suffering several fractures. His condition immediately appeared serious, requiring him to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The 58-year-old was transported to the Ospedale del Mare in Naples, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. He is in a coma and his life is in danger.

Carabinieri investigations

Carabinieri from the Poggiomarino station and the Torre Annunziata mobile radio unit intervened at the scene of the accident.

The military has begun investigations to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and clarify the circumstances surrounding the fall. Any safety issues during work operations remain to be verified. The investigation is ongoing.
