Naples, murder of child in via Foria: immediate trial for Mariano Cannio

The 38-year-old housekeeper is accused of the death of little Samuele, the 4-year-old boy who was dropped into the void from the balcony of the house where the child lived with his parents, last September 17, in Naples.

Deputy prosecutors Vincenza Marra and Barbara Aprea have requested an immediate trial for Cannio. The decision by the Naples Prosecutor's Office comes following the outcome of the evidentiary incident ordered to ascertain Cannio's mental health.

The investigations were carried out last November during two visits to prison which were attended by the expert appointed by the judge and the two consultants appointed by the lawyers Domenico De Rosa, the lawyer of the child's parents, and Mariassunta Zotti, the 38-year-old's defence lawyer.
