LThe association “Restiamo Umani” is among the promoters of the mural dedicated to Gino Strada painted inside the Circumvesuviana station in Scisciano, which for over a year has given home and shelter to a path of protection of rights through a desk dedicated to migrants.
“This year - we read in a note from the association - about 1000 people have turned to our helpdesk, of which about 300 have already managed to regularize their presence in Italy and the same number are in the process of regularizing.
This small space in the midst of the pandemic has allowed around 500 people, invisible and at high risk of marginalization, to access the vaccination path and every day it is increasingly a stronghold of solidarity and protection of the needs of those who experience the precariousness of life and future first-hand every day.
Our helpdesk has also become a space for the municipal social secretariat thanks to the Sai project of the Municipality of Scisciano which has its legal and orientation office inside our helpdesk. Through the SAI project our space has become even more a space at the service of the migrant community of the area and this summer we have enhanced it together with the beautiful laboratory of the Agorà association of Dugenta which has decorated the external walls of the Helpdesk with a beautiful mural that tells the story of migration and the protection of rights.
This Mural is dedicated to Gino Strada who for us and for all those who believe in a different and more human world is a source of continuous inspiration. On October 3, the day in which we remember the Lampedusa massacre that in 2013 saw the death of 368 people, children, women and men who were trying to reach Europe, we decided to inaugurate this place that must be a space of MEMORY as well as SOLIDARITY and HOSPITALITY.
The inauguration of the mural is scheduled for October 03rd at 17 pm, during the inauguration in addition to testimonies of people who reached Italy through the epic at sea there will be a story in music and verse of the other possible world.
