Drug dealing on the Amalfi coast: 9 arrests

The carabinieri of the company of Amalfi, together with the Sarno dog unit and the Seventh Carabinieri Helicopter Unit of Pontecagnano, executed a precautionary measure issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Salerno, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against nine people.

The suspects were charged, to varying degrees, with the crimes of production, possession and dealing of narcotic substances. During the investigation activities, carried out by the military of the Arma between June and December 2019, two plots of land used for the cultivation of indica hemp were also identified. During the operations of execution of the aforementioned precautionary measures and the concurrent searches, narcotic substances were found.

In the home of another suspect, not yet traced, more drugs were found. One person ended up in prison, four under house arrest and four others obtained from the investigating judge the precautionary measure of the obligation to reside in the municipalities of residence. This is the outcome of an operation to combat drug dealing, coordinated by the DDA of Salerno, carried out this morning by the Carabinieri of the Amalfi Company with the support of the Canine Unit of Sarno and the seventh Helicopter Unit of Pontecagnano.

The tenth suspect, however, has not yet been found, in whose home a block of 100 grams of hashish and 2 grams of marijuana were found. The Salerno prosecutor's office is accusing the suspects, to varying degrees, of the crimes of production, possession and dealing of narcotic substances. During the investigation, carried out between June and December 2019, two plots of land used for the cultivation of indica hemp were also identified.

This morning, the military of the Arma, during the execution of precautionary measures and searches, found, in the possession of one of the suspects for whom the investigating judge had ordered the precautionary measure of the obligation to reside in the municipality of residence, ten grams of cocaine, 45 grams of marijuana and 113 grams of hashish. For this, he was arrested in flagrante delicto.
