Approved by majority vote in the City Council of Napoli, with the abstention of the Maresca and Forza Italia groups, resolution no. 334 useful for ensuring the partially free supply of textbooks for the 2023/2024 school year to secondary school students in particular economic conditions, using the quota of the restricted surplus relating to the 2017 and 2019 financial years.
This 2023 budget change includes the adjustment of the allocations for a value of € 2.269.276,19, coming from previous financial years, necessary to guarantee the partially free supply of textbooks for the 2023/2024 school year to secondary school students in particular economic conditions, explained the Councilor for Education and Family Maura Striano in her report.
In the debate, the president of the Education Commission Aniello Esposito called for filling the information gaps that have prevented many families from accessing the contribution in the future, Rosario Palumbo (Cambiamo!) asked that the allocations be increased next year.
Nino Simeone (Mixed) instead denounced the delay with which the resolution was approved, Iris Savastano (Forza Italia) announced her abstention on behalf of the centre right for the repetition of the errors that did not ensure books for students starting from the beginning of the school year.
Finally, Walter Savarese D'Atri (Manfredi Mayor) proposed extending free textbooks to lower secondary schools.
