Piazza Mercato abandoned to vandalism and degradation
It had been given a makeover with UNESCO funds, as part of the project to revalue the historic centre, but the new look cannot hide the state of degradation it is in. Market Square.
For some time now, numerous citizens have been turning to the deputy of the Green-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli to denounce the state of abandonment of the aforementioned square left at the mercy of baby gangs, vandals and anarchy.
The latest photographic documentation sent by residents highlights the damage to monuments and street furniture.
"Our complaints regarding this area are countless. And yet despite this, despite the citizens' appeal, despite the state of emergency, the surveillance presence that we expected has not arrived, especially after the shooting incident at the Milot key last summer." - declares Borrelli.
"If we want to wait until things get worse before we intervene, then we need to prepare for a catastrophe. We don't want it, the citizens don't deserve it, we need to intervene now."
